What is a “shred event,” and what may I bring to shred?

Who may attend the event?

If you are a MECU member, this event is for you!

Who is the shredding provider?

Why is MECU holding this event?

Because we care about your financial well-being! One way to protect your financial information and identity is to shred documents that contain identifying information. This includes, but is not limited to, name, date of birth, bank account number, social security number, etc.

I keep all of my private documents in a box. Will ProShred dispose of the box for me?

No. ProShred cannot shred or dispose of empty boxes, bags, or other waste from the shred event. Any boxes or trash bags are the member’s responsibility and cannot be given to the ProShred driver for removal.

Will the event be held in the event of inclement weather?

No. ProShred CANNOT shred wet or damp paper. The paper will shut down the shredder. Any event cancellations will be posted on our website the morning of the event.
In addition, do not bring damp or wet paper to be shredded. Your items will be refused.
