Residential rental property mortgages through MECU -

A growing number of people are investing in real estate by purchasing a few rental units that they can manage on their own. Now MECU can help its members finance purchases of one or few rental properties through its Member Business Services Group.

Basics of the program

  • Available throughout MECU's geographic lending range (MD, PA, DE)
  • 1-4 unit residential homes may be used as collateral
  • Minimum $50,000 loan amount
  • Members may borrow up to Fannie Mae's conforming loan limit (currently $417,000 for a one-unit property)
  • Terms up to 30 years
  • Qualified members may borrow up to 80% of value or purchase price
  • Fixed and adjustable rates available
  • In contrast to many other lenders, no points are charged, so closing costs are similar to those for owned-occupied properties
  • Loan must meet Fannie Mae guidelines
